If you may or may not know, the death toll as a result of the earthquake and tsunamis has risen to 52,000.  That's almost the size of all those named on the Vietnam War Memorial, except in this instance all were lost practically in a day.  The U.S. has only agreed to send $15 million. Japan has pledged $30 million.  And the EU has altogether

that's what I was thinking, but their website said they won't accept clothes b/c it takes money and people to process all that crap.

They've said specifically that they don't want clothes or food from overseas because it'l probably cost more to ship them than it would to buy food and clothes locally near the affected areas.
