BEES!

I have a beehive now! I have much gratitude to Bill and Holly for this.

Thank you, you two.

You made a really rough week about a thousand times better.

Ah, the tricky words fail us on lj. Beehive can refer to either the actual colony of living critters, IE: BEES, or it can refer to the box where they live and is home to them.

In the case I wrote about above, Bill and Holly found a local beekeeper who is moving and selling off his active hive (box + bees). So right now I have about 80,000 new backyard neighbors.

You are going to be kept very busy giving them each a name...

I've wanted a beehive ever since I was a child.

Looking over Atlanta's beekeeping laws there seems to be no restrictions about it. You can get into beekeeping for about $250 total. That would include gear, hive body and bees...

Lemme know if you want to get into it, I can send you all sorts of websites.

I too have been a wannabeekeeper for decades. Yes, decades. For now, though, I'm thrilled by being foster mom to a mason bee block. It has 7 cells filled with baby bee eggs, I'm so excited!
Congrats on your honey-ones!
