I am dumb

So...I just got taken for 14 bucks by a con-artist. In my defense, it is 8 o'clock in the morning, and I'd just gotten off the red-eye at 5:30am, and haven't slept since I woke up at 9am (really 12, as I was previously on pacific time). It's interesting that he talked to you for so long. And what an elaborate story for the life of con-artist Brian! I can't imagine why someone would hit you up for only $14 after 3 hrs. Maybe he just enjoyed doing it. Airports, train stations and bus stops attract the oddest folk.

The bar that I was at last night had a pretty weird old guy as well. He kept pulling the "I've been everywhere and seen everything" stunt. It was amusing although highly improbable that he did everything that he said that he did. However, he liked telling stories and I like listening to people who like telling stories. Perhaps, this con-artist also likes telling stories. Also, Brian doesn't need to pay taxes on the $14, could've been hoping for more than $14 and he also nabbed the MIT student's 4 dollars. $18 in 3 hours is 6 dollars per hour without tax. That works out to like 9 bucks an hour. That's not horrid especially if he has a good time telling stories.
