I have nothing original to say about the Virginia Tech shootings, except for the fact that this is the kind of thing that makes me irrationally afraid to go to America: it's so easy to get your hands on a gun. I don't want to offend anyone, but I really don't understand why anybody feels that the right to bear arms is a reasonable law ( Read more... )

People are fucking insane here. The NRA (National Riffle Association) is so powerful that no gun laws ever get passed. All the attempts get shot down [/bad pun]. Anyway, as they say, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." So why give the fucking people guns? Shit.

Yeah. I mean, it's true that people are gonna snap no matter what laws there are, but it's a hell of a lot better if you don't just let them stroll down to their local gun store and grab a few pistols. bleh x________x

Yeah, I agree with you. The right to bear arms is one of the most immoral "rights" we have, but its been in the constitution since the day it started and they wont be taking it anytime soon. It is really scary, I'll be starting college soon and living here in America, even driving around by myself can be considered a gamble. Its pathetic how unsafe the actions of others have made people feel... but what can we do? People are irrational and wont give up their guns. =/

Eek! Stay away from crazy kids with guns... but really, you need a license to drive a car because you may accidentally kill someone, why not make it compulsory to have a gun license, seeing as a gun's only purpose is to kill things? I'm just glad I live over here, where only farmers and policemen have guns.

- "Everyone and their mum has a gun around here."
- "Like who?"
- "Farmers.
- "Who else?"
- "Farmers' mums."

But without Guns there would be no Guns n roses.
The horror!

Unrelated news, I was cleaning (wow) and I found something of such humour that you must see it. I think you wrote it in grade 8 with the help of that crazy cat Meg. It must be seen at the soonest possible time.

People have all kinds of reasons for keeping that law in place, and sometimes I feel weirdly patriotic and I see different sides of the issue. But now, and probably from now on, too, I just feel so weary of the violence this country has endured for so long. Banning guns isn't going to stop it, but it'll be doing something and I want to put an end to at least that part of the violence.

I do understand that there are reasons for the right to bear arms, I just think that the cons far outweigh the pros. I'm not trying to alienate anyone or say OMG AMERICANS R STUPID (and I definitely don't want to offend you!), I just don't understand why anyone would be okay with guns being thrown around to whoever wants one. I think perhaps it's a cultural thing though. Maybe you guys can't see why we wouldn't want to own guns :)
