Fabulous day at work. Logan, Ebony and Michelle worked at the desk (And I saw Maggie quickly, too!) among others and it was busy and fun and I was at ease

I've reverted back to how utterly pathetic I used to be. Today, the first day of the new Star Wars figures, I went out in search of the ones I wanted. I wasn't as bad as the people who showed up at the midnight Toys R Us event, grabbing armfulls of figures off of shelves and out of boxes throwing them into carriages manned by their apparent girlfriends(seriously now), but I was out there none the less.
So apparently Target had an exclusive lava-pit Darth Vader figure of which there were only 50,000 made. I guess each store was getting about 30 which was the cause for the masses of people to swarm to Target even though they can get the same basic figures everywhere else. These Darth Vaders are now selling on e-bay for about $50-$100. [sigh] ...but I digress.
I got some of the figures I wanted and, when I got home, promptly went against all my collected instincts and tore open the packages so I could play with them.
...damnit...I knew I should have bought the uber-pregnant Natalie Portman
Yeah, I knew we had gotten some sort of special edition figure and only a handful at that. Mostly because one of the boxes got stolen from the manager's offices the day before the big sale. Whatever team member got away with that is making a shitload on Ebay right about now. *shakes head*
I still can't imagine getting up at 4:30 for action figures. But that's only because that's not my particular rusty boat. Not going to fault people for their own. Just gonna stare incredulously and sleep in late. ^_^
At least I have fun with my figures and take them out and play with them. Although in the past I have proven that I can have fun with action figures still on the card(obscure high school reference)
*pulls some strings and watches the figures dance ... I mean fight...*
And I agree with you. But I've never understood the collections that merely sit around or stay in binders. Same thing with plates and wine glasses that are bought and never used and the knick knacks like porcelein cats and whatnot that just sit on a shelf and have no other purpose. Play, use or at least have some sort of significant memory attached to the things you're carrying around.
But then, those collectors also make lots and lots of money. So, what the hell do I know?
