Hey

Just dropping you a note to let you know that I defriended you, so you wouldn't find out some random way.

I just really don't want to read that much political stuff on what's supposed to be my fun journal...especially stuff with so much bitterness in venom laced in it. I only see political posts from my other friends maybe once a month/every two months.

And obviously, I'm not going to ask you to change or filter what you post...it is your journal, after all. So I took the only option I saw and bowed out.

But I just wanted you to know that I wasn't mad at you or anything drama-filled.

Aye. I saw it. Not sure why you targeted this post at me. I don't recall defending what Obama said, only that he said it. And, it also seems to me that we saw something in this "back peddling" that we haven't seen in a long time. An admission that not only was he wrong but that his words exacerbated a situation instead of helping. I'd say that's pretty responsible. Would be nice to see more people in general and "leaders" in particular do the same.

With the legitimate complaints and issues about "race relations" in this country, it is a cryin' shame when over-reactions happen, but, without defending them, it is understandable that they happen.

Hee hee, true. Fair enough. And yup, I do give him credit for admiting a mistake for, as you point out, far too few of our leaders behave as humbly when they mess up. And silly technicality, I never had a problem with him responding, I had a problem with the response. Either way, yeah, race relations are still bad, but they are complicated and I hate when someone, especially the president, feels they can easily poiny the finger at one party and sum up the issue.
