District 9

Saw district 9 with some of Jamie's old school friends. They dissed the hell out of it, but I really liked it. Something new, different and not status quo. Interesting point of view and premise. Either way, I like it, kudos to the makers. Poo poo on Jamie's friends.

It really reminded me of older science fiction stories, like the ones written by Bradbury or Heinlein. Man's inhumanity to man allegorically illustrated in how we might treat aliens, the archetype of a single Earth man just doing his job, being thrust into the conflict and developing sympathy for the aliens after having seen things from their perspective. It's classic science fiction storytelling with a newer look.

I liked the constant switches in the look of the film itself, from cinematic, to news feeds, to security and shaky cams... it was a great expression of multiple viewpoints for a single story.
