Summary: Renji realizes that he actually didn't give back the keys he'd set to last week, and runs by to drop them off, only to discover that the entire time Byakuya's been holed up in Fourth, he hasn't had his zanpakutou with him. This must be rectified, and the eventuation may or may not be pork chop sandwiches.

There were times Senbonzakura greatly enjoyed immortality; the engrossing span of eternal infinity to watch the flowers bloom to fall to bloom again was nothing short of a blessing. But that past week had been really rather wretched--the worst part about being immortal, she'd decided long ago, was the periods of endless, useless waiting.
Waiting for a shinigami to select her to wield...waiting for that shinigami to learn her name...waiting to be manifested, waiting to consummate bankai...
...waiting for Byakuya to listen to her again. Waiting for him to find himself again.
And now, left forgotten in his office at Sixth, Sakura found herself waiting once more. She could of course contact Byakuya regardless of the distance between them--they were forever linked, after all!--but the saya rested beside his office desk, and it wearied her to be away from it long. And so she stayed, fretful and quiet, in the saya, as she had stayed for forty years, and though she could still feel him and knew the sickness hadn't taken him yet, she still worried.
This was quite different from watching her shinigami in silence and hoping someday he'd reawaken. She could hardly find the strength to visit him, and even if she could, there wasn't much to say. He needed to be resting, not having a forty-years-overdue heart-to-heart with his zanpakutou.
Still, she hoped maybe someone would think to bring his sword back to him. What a disgrace! A shinigami without his sword beside him!
She could only imagine what Benihime would have to say about this...
