✓ THE HISTORY...
THE SETTING
the playing field up until the RPG turns from canon
Trapped in Hueco Mundo, Kurosaki Ichigo continues his quest to rescue the now proclaimed useless Inoue Orihime, bringing him to his awaited rematch with Ulquiorra, the Fourth Espada. Also trapped were his ryoka companions, as well as various Shinigami, including Captains, now rendered unable to take part in the battle about to rage outside the land of the Hollows. However, their efforts were not entirely in vain...
Stepping out from his fortress Las Noches, Aizen, Gin, and Tousen ascended onto what was thought to be Karakura, Japan. However, Yamamoto and the rest of the Gotei 13 had sealed off the real Karakura and replaced it with an empty replica, while the real city was safely sitting in Soul Society. Four pillars guarded the spell that kept the town from harm, each guarded by a lieutenant or trusted officer. Calling his top three-ranked Espada, Aizen leaves the dirty work to them in destroying the pillars. However, Yamamoto traps the ex-Captains in a fiery ring, rendering them unable to escape as the fight for Karakura beings outside...
...or so he thought.
THE WAR
how things came to be the way they are
The trio sat, waiting patiently for the battle to be fought for them. However, with the casualties on his side, it wasn't long before Aizen decided that the battle raging was a convenient enough distraction for the bulk of Soul Society's defenses, as they threw their lives away against his own expendable subordinates. No one but those three knew what happened next, and they keep their lips tightly shut. But the stories say that it was like fire raining from the sky in Soul Society, a heat so unbearable that people ran, only to collapse from the heat. Then it was gone as quickly as it had come. Yamamoto's Jokaku Enjo sat empty in the fake Karakura as the Gotei 13 fought for its future, while the city itself was finally under siege.
Mysteriously, the remaining Espada were recalled back into Hueco Mundo. Suspicious, scouts were immediately sent to Soul Society and the barrier that kept the town separate was broken down. However, they returned the true Karakura, only to find that it was too late. It was a modern ghost town, save for a handful of people protected by Urahara Shouten and those simply too far in the outskirts to have mattered. Aizen was gone, and so was the life of the city.
Being the holder of knowledge for Seireitei, Yamamoto wasted no time to lead forces into the King's Realm, finding it already open. What was once a great, lush forest lay dead and wasted, like it had been lit ablaze centuries ago. They followed the path to the King's Palace, where outside they found the bodies of many Shinigami who had risked everything to venture inside and stop Aizen. Among them were two beings they did not expect - Vizard.
The throne room was free of bodies, but one; that of the old King of Soul Society. His corpse lay in the seat, covered in blood and unrecognizable. Silent for years he had been, but he would no longer have the chance to change that.
The details of the battle inside were never given in detail, unless you wanted to unlock horrible memories for the officers that were present. Yamamoto perished at the hand of the new King, now endowed with a power over the afterlife itself. But once the old man was vanquished, the remaining Gotei was allowed to carry the dead and deal with them as they saw fit. That was the last many Shinigami have seen of Aizen, as his orders now come from the lips of a messenger, or in text.
Rumors say that the King's Realm is now beautiful and lush, despite what most want to believe. The order of Soul Society has stayed strangely intact for the moment, but everyone is constantly on edge for the moment it tips over. The next two years were quiet as Aizen established himself, the flow of the afterlife turned back to normal. Tousen Kaname became the elected representative of the realm to Las Noches, and Ichimaru Gin to Seireitei, while the Gotei 13 try to make up for their losses, figuring out where to fill in the gaps and pick a new Commander General.
But the fear in everyone's mind is not of the terrible future that awaits them...
...it's wondering if perhaps Aizen's control will not be as terrible as they imagined.
