I shall be glad if this questioning of reality does indeed turn out to be an event set by the Animus. But both places, Adstringendum and - and the convent to which I am confined when not here, feel completely real to me when I am there, and feel as though a dream when I am not. It is only when sleep takes me in one place that I return to the other.

If this is indeed an event, what do the Animus gain from such a thing? Why put us through a trial of this nature?
