And also because he'd had one hell of a week, and from him, that was saying something.

But no; there Gabriel was. Except Lucifer knows the last time he saw him, it was when he drove a sword through his heart. He saw him die. He held him as he died and then he let him fall, and Gabriel is dead.

[Gabriel hasn't gotten quite that far yet. All he knows is the threat of Lucifer was looming down on the Elysian with every crack of thunder. He'd gotten out of the Impala, ready to start something, and he knew where it would end. If Lucifer told him as much, he wouldn't even be shocked about anything aside from the bodycount it took Lucifer to get to him.

He still stands there, staring back. Damn. He almost had a speech prepared for this, but now he's just... Stricken dumb with seeing his brother for the first time in thousands of years. Maybe he should say something deep.]
