Well folks I finally have a job!
so, It's Tuesday afternoon and I'm chillin in studio A waiting for my turn to run my senior solo when one of the VSA ppl says I have a call on hold upstairs. I'm like... k. Maybe its my parents and they can't remember the name of the hotel they're supposed to stay at or something. So I go upstairs and pick up the phone and press line one.
me: hello? them: hello this is Igor.(principle guy at Richmond Ballet) me:oh!... Hi Igor how are you. Igor: I am good. I call because we set up audition for you, but you not show up. me: (very confused) oh um... I had talked to Ms Faesi about coming down earlier in the year but hadn't set a date. Igor: ok, well I connect you to Malcolm. (ballet master)
I'm thouroughly confused. Malcolm Burn gets on the line and I ask him whats up. He says that one of his apprentice boys who just came back from an injury broke his foot and can't dance. So he says I should come down to take class with the company and audition. The only day I can come is Friday since VSA graduation is Thurs and I leave Sat. So my parents drove me to Richmond and put me up in a hotel Thursday night. So Friday morning I get up and go take class with the company. It's a SMALL class since most people are gone for summer layoff. I do alright. Not my best but certainly not my worst (aka Boston). At the end they say they want to offer me an apprentice contract for the next season. so I'm like hmm.. Tulsa=maybe/most likely no. NCDT2 is a maybe that won't be decided until the middle of the summer. "I'd love to apprentice next season" So I signed the contract and had my dad sign it too (since after all I'm not 18 yet).
SO: I'm calling Mark Diamond at NCDT to tell him that I signed with Richmond and to make sure that he and Jean-Pierre still want me to come to Chautauqua. I'm reeeeeeeeeeally hoping they want me too because thats like $1500 in my pocket for that. Thats three months of Richmond in 2.5 weeks. I have a feeling though that they'll still say to come since they're nice folks and I'll tell mark I want to audition for the company again next year. This time sooner in the season :-)---- Richmond details: housing is provided. <----= a big yay! 250$ paid every two weeks. It's not much but when you figure how much housing might have cost its not bad. It ought to cover groceries and some hair gel. I start as soon as I'm done with Chautauqua which is like July 12. Being in Richmond puts me only 2 hours from Mark! That means it will be muuuuuuuch easier for him to come visit. (VSA was 5 hours from Virginia Beach)
so thats my news. :-) I am happy :-)
