This is an interesting quandry for many of us. You are perfect at the you you are IF you are happy with that. If you like who you are and like what you do and like how you act.
Be aware though... often the things we do not like in others are the things that we do not like about ourselves... either our current self or how we behaved in the past. Either way, it's good to be self aware of our own reactions.
If there is something that you do not like about yourself, first make sure it is actually something you don't like and not something someone else has made comment on that THEY don't like about you.
Remember, if someone tells you they don't like something about you, that often is about their own feelings for themself and not at all about you.
It takes some practice but it is worth the self inspection to find these things out about yourself.
Not that you are going to Reply to this But.....daviepooJuly 14 2006, 04:54:59 UTC
Dear Dear Evan,
You have to think of how many people know the True Evan James yada yada, (I am using yada yada as to not post your last name online)
How many of these people you interact with on a daily basis in real world settings, (I am doing a quasi-exclusion of Live Journal individuals. Not that the interactions with Live Journal users isn't reality, it is just a bit too 'through the mirror darkly,' for my taste) what part of you do they see?
Why do the people in your life, that you say you have placed the blame on, no longer speak to you...
You aren't a bad person Evan. It is my firm belief that you have a heart of gold, once you get down to the essence of who you truly are.
You just want to be loved Evan, and loved in returned.
It's really quite simple.
It's what each of us as humans strive for. It is also what all of us who care for you, want for you, more then anything else.
My Fifth-grade teacher once told me this, and I have never forgotten it:
"If you are friends with everyone, then you are one of the most pathetic people on the planet; it means that you have no perspective, no viewpoint and will bend your beliefs to conform to whatever the mood or situation requires/desires".
verbatim....swear to God!
That's pretty intense for a Fifth-grader and I thought she was a kind of a bitch at the time for being so blunt. Now, I realize: "Damn, that bitch gave me some useful-ass advice!"
Yes, EJ...you are a bitch. PLEASE don't change! I don't need you as a friend, you have enough...but I LIKE having you around and LIKE getting to know you because I enjoy how genuine you are....even being a bitch. =) And I'll take a bitch who is clear-and-upfront with who they are and what they are about over any agreeable fake-ass mofo...any day!

But if there's something about you that you don't like, what makes you think you can't change it?
