Batteries and Hatin' on the Olympics

Today feels like my first free day for a while.  I have no obligations.  And I didn't have to get up at 6:00 am.

I think I am going to go to the battery store, yes that's right, a store that sells nothing but batteries.  I am looking for these re-chargeable Eneloop batteries.  Since my camera rips through batteries like Amy Winehouse goes through ( Read more... )

I do not get how the olympics is always held up as this most noble of human endeavors. What the fuck about sitting around for a couple hours watching athletes compete makes us morally righteous?

I guess it's because the internationals are sitting next to and not bombing each other, but really you'd want that to be a given and not a lauded event.

Olympics are about pushing the bounds of human expectation. But I see more of that in tech blogs than in sports.

I enjoy the olympics when I understand them. ie. gymnastics. I grasp why that lifty-spinny-thing was hard and awesome. I respect that. But swimmming? All speed-based things? I can't judge it. It's amazing, but... I can't see the incredible.
