Ok, so I haven't read A Heartbreaking Work. But I'm family friends with his one-time girlfriend Kristen and her husband Michael, who I believe turn up the book, and I'm underimpressed by some of his moves, like including the actual numbers of actual friends in the novel. People had to get their numbers changed. That's just a dumb shit move.

Fast Food Nation is terrifying, and kind of makes me want to become a foodie terrorist (food fighter?) although the artificial flavor section sounded like a wonderful place to work.

I believe I will look for Possession and All the Pretty Horses now. But I can't get over my conviction not to read Fun Home, to take a stand against autobiographical obliquely humorous comics.

Isn't Possession amazing? I read it on a beach (in Malaysia) a couple years ago and got miserably sunburnt because I was too absorbed in the book to move inside.

I could never get into Persepolis either. But, of course, Fun Home is one of my favorites. I used a quote from it in my word bio for Jen Bryan.
