The elevator opened onto a bullpen and Abby walked backwards out the doors. "Welcome to NCIS headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard. This is the bullpen. Here the agents of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service solve crimes, catch criminals and look good doing it. There's pretty much every forensic tool invented in there. Plus a lot of weird gothy stuff.

Lana followed Abby in, eyes wide and incredibly excited. "Wow, Abby, this is just amazing! Thank you so much for letting me come." She didn't know what to look at first. Some of the stuff she recognized from class, but other equipment was completely new to her.

Abby pointed at a large machine. "This one requires adult supervision so you don't fry our organs. Everything else is fair game for experimenting."

Jim was hiding his amusement at watching Lana geek out over the equipment in Abby's lab. He did find it interesting, really. The teenager thing made it hard for him to properly express his appreciation, though.

Lana was almost too excited to eat. She gave Jim a tight hug and sat down next to him. "This is just amazing. Thank you for coming along with me."

This is specifically for a couple of students who asked for a trip, but I will probably be doing another one in the late summer/fall that will be open to everyone who wants to come!
