Let's see... Is it working now? Hello? Anyone out there?

[Some rustling sounds as Lizzie makes herself comfortable and checks once more if the journal is working.]

Well, I'm not sure if this is working but I'll give it a try!

[Shows a big wide smile to the journal.]Greetings, Luceti!! My name is Elizabeth Middleford and I'm very pleased to meet ( Read more... )

[Well, she's his fianceé after all.]

Totally! I always try my best to make him smile but he's just so grumpy and gloomy! Even his wings are black here, I can't believe it.

[...oh god. It's like Bern hit the troll bait jackpot.]

He can be very resistant to change from what I gathered. What have you tried before to make him smile?

Yeah, he's very stubborn, I don't know where he got that, honestly!

[Probably from his father. Given that Lizzie is stubborn herself and her mother was his father's sister so...

Lizzie hums as she thinks.]

I'm always trying to cheer him up and build new happy memories with him. I decorate his mansion with cute and happy things, give him tons of sweets, play with him at anything I can think of... I also organized a ball for us both and the people in his mansion too, I would have wanted to make it bigger but there wasn't enough time.

[Emma wasn't going to reply at first, but Elizabeth says something that completely catches her off-guard.]

That's right, Christmas is coming soon, isn't it? I hadn't even thought about it until now. [...] And I'm pleased to meet you as well, Elizabeth. My name is Emma.

It's nice to meet you Miss Emma!

It feels a bit strange to be about the celebrate Christmas so soon, thought. But I can't wait for it, back at home the social season in Christmas was awesome! When will it start here exactly?

Just Emma is fine, thank you.

I'm afraid I don't know. This is going to be my first Christmas here, though...I doubt everyone celebrates it.

Ah, okay, Emma! You can call me Lizzie!

[If the other party is going to ignore formalities, she has no reason to force them on her either. Anyway, Emma was already calling her Elizabeth, right? And she prefers Lizzie.]

Ah? Why do you doubt that?

[Oh! Text is appearing in the journal! Ah, that's true, they can be used that way. Okay, she'll write back. With a delicate and elegant handwritting, full of frills and with little hears at the dots.]

Our engagement was decided when we were younger, by our parents. But we're still too young to get married, it will take still a few years.

I'm pleased to meet you Poland. I will make sure to tell you if I find cute clothes! Though I think it'll be better if I find a tailor so it's absolutely cute.

[A partner in writting! That's so adorable! This is like exchanging letters, but faster and better!]

Thank you! I honestly could not ask for a better fiancé, even if his mood could certainly improve at times.

[Still she understands why he's so bitter, but, really, he should smile more!]

So there is really a tailor here? I knew there had to be one, it would have been really horrible if there had been none. Is it a good tailor? Are you satisfyied with their work?

... How is it that someone like yourself came to be associated with such a poor-mannered brat?

[Lizzie giggles at that. She doesn't really think Ciel is a brat or poor-mannered, but she can kind of guess where that comes from.]

Ciel isn't really such a poor-mannered brat, actually his manners are superb and his intelligence as well. But I'm aware that he can be a bit difficult to deal with some times.

I apologize if he has caused you any trouble with his grumpiness and stubbornness.

[It's the least she can offer, after all.]

Ciel's father was my mother's brother. They decided on our engagement long ago when we were children.

[So not only they are engaged but they are family. Okay, maybe now we know to which side of the family did all the "happy genetics" go.]
