I know what you mean about real life being scary! I've been here nearly a month & I still find myself thinking "okay...so this is a nice vacation, but when do I get to go back home, to MY house and all of my friends?"
Good luck to you at the career gallery - it's really not that scary walking up and introducing yourself as long as you have a little spiel in mind. One place you might want to keep in mind (that I doubt will be at the career gallery) is Neogen (www.neogen.com). It's a company in Lansing, they do a lot of research for food safety/animal safety stuff. It would be lab work and I'm not sure how interested you are in that, but if it was just temporary while you're looking for something else it would be a good resume booster. Don't be nervous because I know you'll do awesome! Good luck, let me know how it goes :)
Yeah, I went to a cram session tonight for the career gallery & they gave some tips (of which doing a little spiel was part of it). Got some practicing & homework to do!
& oooo--thanks for the tip with that company! I don't think they were listed on the career gallery website as being at the fair, so I'll have to contact them. I wouldn't mind doing research/lab work (that's actually the type of work I'm looking for to start off with), so that is great! :)
