Little King wants to go work-out (probably so he can play video games since he's lost the PS2 for one entire month) but I just don't have the energy. I worked out every day this week, the first time that's happened in too long to admit. I'm taking today off ( Read more... )

I've commissioned myrafur to draw the Hermione and Harry kiss in A Darkened Doorway.

Woohoo! Now I can't wait to see that!

I read that first chapter last night when I was trying to decide what to have her draw and I have to admit...it sucked! What was I thinking?

I just have to say to that; What the bloody hell are you talking about, Mel?! I have to most respectfully disagree with you there. I thought it was the perfect set-up chapter. Especially the cliffie. Damn, that was just great stuff all around!

Btw, congrats on the success of a_chapter_a_day! Jeez I am so far behind on reading all the comments but it's been really great to see all the different perspectives on the chapters.

Good luck on finishing Chapter 8 of BLTN. ;)

Okay, I'll give you the cliffie, that was good. But, the getting there wasn't my best. Eh, oh well. Did you know that originally it was supposed to end with Hermione dying? But, I couldn't do it to her. I couldn't kill her off. Maybe I need to kill a character I really love. I don't think I could do it, though.

Well don't be too hard on yourself. You don't exactly have a "worst of" category with your writing either. I'm betting you hooked a heck of a lot of people into your story with that "wasn't your best" first chapter. I personally was completely hooked at that kiss in the doorway! :D

Did you know that originally it was supposed to end with Hermione dying?

*Gasp* God, I am so glad you didn't kill her off! A question though. What the heck was the rest of the story going to be about if you had killed her off?

Maybe I need to kill a character I really love.

AH! Don't do that! Well at least not Harry or Hermione. I don't know about you, but I'd hate myself the next day if I killed one of them off in a fic. ;)

it did NOT suck!!! I too was quite hooked on the whole story...you are one of the best writers in HHR fandom, in my opinion. I always look forward to your writing. Perhaps you should leave the constructive criticism to others, as you creative writing types don't often have accurate self appraisal?

Just finished "Wicked".I love Ephalba; would love to know what thoughts you have about her when you finish. There are some book club/study guide questions in the back of the book. I have my own conclusions out of those questions, but don't want to ruin it for you while you're reading. If you're interested in sharing an exchange about it after you're done, I'm curious...

If you're not interested and have better things to do afterward, that's ok too!

I got my copy of Wicked from the library, so I don't believe it has the questions that you are talking about. I'd love to talk about it when I'm done. I haven't read The Wizard of Oz and have only a vague memory of the movie, so I'm coming to this book with no pre-conceived notions except that the Wicked Witch is supposed to be evil and that song "We are off to see the Wizard/The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in my mind. So far, from what I gather, the wizard isn't so wonderful at all.

Looking forward to talking to you about it!

I haven't read the Wizard of Oz since 6th grade, but I think I'm going to re-read them now that I've read Wicked. There's a lot of background info in the books that is not in the movie but is referenced in Wicked.

... HEY! Why did you have to post a chapter of BLTN right when I was gunna start BBB? *sigh* Too much good fic is such a burden. :D

Hi! You have NO idea who I am, but I know you through Portkey (I'm sure there are a lot of people like that, eh?) Anyway, I was hoping it's okay if I friend you? I'm new to LJ, but I've read yours a bit (before I had a username), and I promise I'll be a very good friend! (I don't usually kiss bum this badly).
