JKR confirms that Harry is, in fact, still the hero of her story...

Apr 06, 2005 11:49

I can't tell you how thrilled I am that JKR has debunked the Knight to King theory. I will give the authors of this theory credit for being so creative and for putting so much time, effort and thought into their theory. I was even sucked in for about 15 minutes when I read it. Then the reality of canon returned and I came to my senses. I do wonder ( Read more... )

What you said...
Ditto to everything. And thank you for putting it so well. Much as I love Ron, this is Harry's story...

*hugs*

Brilliant, Mel!

This is exactly what I've been trying to say, but have failed.

Thank you!

Also-

I think she just laughed at the idea of R/Hr. Maybe not, but it's the way I read it.

I think she is laughing at the fact that we care so much about the shipping and will go to great lengths to theorize different ways to put our ship together.

Either way, it's Riddikulus! ;)

My first thought on reading that was, "Uh oh...who's gonna die now?"

True, we always knew there'd be more deaths and she's said as much. My thought was that some really well-loved characters are going to get killed off in book 6 rather than 7: with her saying that, now I can see Hagrid, Ron, Dumbledore and perhaps the whole Weasley clan getting killed off in book 6. Before, I thought the odds were we'd only lose one of the above or a few minor characters.

I too am glad she put that to rest. While I appreciated the theory and write ups for what they were I just could not wrap my brain around it. I love Ron, but I love him for all the reasons you stated Mel. I have always said this "the story is about Harry Potter" whether on the shipping level or any other character level. I think the only perspective we will ever see is Harry's.

This cracked me up and is why I love Jo Rawling! "(chuckles as the distant roars of a million shippers reach my ears, all cursing me to an eternity of unsatisfied curiosity)."

Yeah, she's having a good laugh at us shippers, isn't she? It's a bit irritating. I'll tell her that when I have tea with her tomorrow.

lol Mel...you poor thing!! Tell her I said hello and to keep up the snarky remarks!

I think I am just as amused as JKR about all the shipping wars. However, I will be highly pissed if she does not answer the shipping questions in HBP.

I know she is all about pleasing herself first but doesn't every writer ultimately want to please their fans as well???

I'll be interested to see their response to this. Someone over on unplottables is trying to act like JKR didn't really debunk the theory. Which I guess that's to be expected. Unbelievable, but expected. Move on to what Jo has told us to think about: why DD didn't try to kill Voldie in MoM and why Voldie didn't die at Godric's Hollow. Leave Ron to his role as sidekick. Worry about the hero!
