I just saw Star Wars Eipsode III. There was no need to watch Ep II.

Verdict? Good movie. But, I'm not in raptures over it.

I can swear - SWEAR - that Natalie Portman said, "i'm not going to die in childbirth, Hayden." I went to www.moviemistakes.com and they didn't have it. She doesn't say "Ani" which is a gay nickname for a guy, but that's off ( Read more... )

Obi-Wan rules. That's why I have a cat named Obi-Wan.

Also, Mr. Song insisted we couldn't call him Yoda because he wasn't green.

I thought Yoda and Obi-Wan made the movie. I think the subplots in the movies make more sense if you've seen Ep II, but I'm a purist that way. I believe in seeing movies in order. :-) You dont' have to see Ep II to get what's going on with Anakin/Padme, and all that, but it definitely helps to know how exactly Palpatine managed to convince the Senate to give him supreme powers, and why Padme/Anakin couldn't reveal their relationship to the Jedi, why he's so afraid of his visions of Padme, etc. but not necessary to the movie (hell, Ep I isn't necessary to the main plot of Ep III). I enjoyed it, but have been picking it apart ever since. Overall, honestly, the part that bothers me most is "why" Padme died. She lost the will to live. Really? With two babies on the way? Yeah, I didn't buy that.

Padme dies? (Wasn't planning to see the movie.) I thought Leia could remember her mother, according to what I remember from from "Jedi".

CANON CONTRADICTION!!! It's a flint! :D

I believe Leia remembers her adoptive mother (as she remembers her adoptive father). But I could be wrong. I've heard that elsewhere, too.

When Luke asks her if she remembers her mom, the impression that I got was that Leia remembered her birth mother, who was very beautiful but sad. That would certainly describe the Padme I remember from Ep 1.

*blink*

There's another actor in the movie besides Ewan? I thought it was all about the Obi Wan!!!

Hmmm...I'll have to check it out again this weekend and see what I missed. :-D

If you want to be distracted, go to www.moviemistakes.com and see what they caught. Last I checked there were only 9.

LOOKY MY NEW ICON!!!

Did you read Ella yet?

OMG! Love the icon! Is my JA obsession rubbing off on you? That entire scene is so great; when he's talking to Sir Lucas about how great his stairs are, then the shelves in the closet and Elizabeth is trying to not laugh outloud. And poor long suffering Charlotte...she knows he's an idiot!

"MAKE HASTE! MAKE HASTE!" Another funny Mr. Collins scene. Well, they are all funny, IMHO.

Yes, I read Ella and it was very good! I was struck by how it could parallel the direction our country is going in since 9/11 and was shocked to see that it was published in 2001, so obviously written before. I think it might be the first epistolary novel I've read. It was a very good rec. I gave it to my Mom to take with her to the beach this weekend.

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan was the only reason I went to see Episodes 1 and 2. I haven't seen Episode 3 yet, but I'm semi-excited about all the light-saber duels.

I'll keep my ears open for that Natalie Portman flub and let you know.

The light sabre duels are great. Especially the one with Yoda and Palpatine/whatever his sith lord name is.

I just came back from watching the movie... and it was good; i enjoyed it. Yoda kicks ass... and I'm more in love with Ewan McGregor, which I didn't think was possible. He's the only one who manages to actually work with what has to be some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard in a movie. And the light saber duels didn't disappoint at all.

The moral of this movie? Don't fall in love. Ever.

And I kept my ears especially open for the flub, but she says "Ani." A couple of her other lines were questionable, but she either says "Ani" or "Anakin."

Hmm, let me scroll to that part in the dvd. *cough*

Haha, a bootleg DVD-R of Episode III is already going around. It's pretty sad, really.

Obi-Wan is amazing. I just watched the original Star Wars with a friend last night, and man. It sucks all that much worse when he gets killed by Vader, after seeing his kick-assness in the prequels.

Last night I watched the scene where Vader kills Obi-Wan. He quit, Vader didn't beat him. I guess he did that so he could do what his mentor Quo-Gin (no idea how to spell that, let alone say it) did. At least what Yoda alluded to there at the end.

Let me know if she says Hayden or Annikan. I swear it's Hayden.

She says, Ani. Kind of breaths it out in a sigh, though.

And I agree, it's a really gay name for a guy.

I know Obi-Wan let Vader kill him, still sucks. :[
