anything I would say about the 4th would be more offensive to the people who don't deserve it than the possibility that it might wake up one of the ones who deserve it.

light a candle or something for me on the day of mourning the ex-nation.

Consider one lit on your behalf.

I hear your unspoken rant.

I'm not calling it the 4th. It's Independence Day dammit, and we should not forget what that word means and why the day is so important.

here in Finland, it's the 4th. Independence day is in December.

Forgetting what it meant at one time when there was less poison in the system, no, haven't forgotten that; it's why I'm so pissed off that the country just let itself be destroyed.

I don't see it as hopeless on an national scale, though we do seem to be headed that way. Some states have definitely gone over the edge, though. One of the reasons we're leaving ours.

the problem with poisons is they localize, but they also disable and destroy functionality.

But no, you're right, people don't suck. The situation does. And people WILL fix the problem. Not on a national scale, but that's ok; perhaps one of the better things to come out of this will be a smaller group of countries, many with the sense to be self-sufficient.

Somehow, you just remind me more of a Janice than a Miss Piggy (:

And no, I know someone else who would be Miss Piggy. I'm fairly sure she'd insist (:

Spent yesterday celebrating instead of today, cuz that way people could get to work hangoverless. Spent it on top of 'devil's rock' which is a real pain to climb up but really really good view from up there. It's at the end of the 'float down the vantaa river and drink beer' thing, which there are pictures on flickr but I don't know the actual name, hmm I'll google for 'vantaa celebration' and see what happens... ok that didn't work but I found some searching flickr for 'vantaa' (:

Next year we're going to float down the river (: Sauna is planned (floating sauna) and similar fun.

Wow. Good Flickr links and like 400 pics I might not partake all of! Speaking of which, all manner of floating boat, dinghy, raft, what look like inflatable wading pools that float as boats(?)(pretty fancy)....never seen anything like it! What does Kaljakellunta mean in Finnish? Looks really riotously fun over there is all I can say! UH, floating SAUNA too? Now that I wanna see some pics of as well, whatever the Finnish word for floating sauna fun is! Man! And sure, I'll be Janice, heh. A dingy Janice floating in my dinghy, haha!

Glad y'all had a good time! Yay!

I am not really sure what 'Kaljakellunta' means (: But:

kellunta is sort of 'floating' - it's a derivative of float; and 'kalja' is beer. So. Floating beer festival, essentially (:

And floating sauna is probably saunakellunta. Probably (:
