Don't know about religions, but I've got the series of 'banned books' the Independent did a couple of years back - I'll try & e-mail you the list. If you want to borrow any of them, I can lend them you on our birthday weekend. Not that banned==good quality, but if you want to borrow, you're welcome...

You could read all the major religious texts, e.g. the Bible, the Qur'an, the Rehat Maryada, the Eddas, etc... They each offend all the other religions in the world by their mere heretical existence, and due to their mutually contradictory nature they must all be (except for maybe one, but you'll never know which) works of fiction.

You could also try looking up those Danish cartoons, but they may not take much time to read.

Also, Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, and generally Books critical of religion plus its subcategories.

The trouble with the Bible, Qur'an etc is they're so long! (Yes, I know I'm most of the way through War & Peace after 5 weeks but whenever I try to read the Bible I get bogged down in the genealogy lists & mildew prevention rules...though my flat could probably do with the mildew prevention!)
I forgot about Philip Pullman though - I have already read, but a while ago...
And I know HP is shouted about by religious folks but they're a)too long for me to be bothered reading again and b) not directly critical/offensive to religion/established churches in quite the same way.
Thanks for ideas though!

Or provides access to heresies like how to use a wire detector.

heh! if I'd thought about a wire detector, I'd have thought about wires, wouldn't I?
You're underestimating my stupidity....
Also, just because I have a drill doesn't mean I have all those other gadgets.
Though it's my birthday soon so some clever person will probably get me one now...
