I'm disappointed, but I can't say I didn't see it coming; I've been waiting for a while now. There wasn't a point bringing him back from the opposing school all of a sudden at the same time they revved up the prom king/queen storyline unless they were planning to do something with it. Obviously they were.
Suppose I'll go watch this one now and be caught up again.
See, I'd been spoiled for it, so I knew it was going to happen. And when I heard, I was fiery pissed back then too. It's just...pointless. Yes, we've established that Kurt is bullied. BUT BY TWO PEOPLE. The rest of the kids are non-entities.
It's just bad storytelling. :/
And it's not like Higgins is a competent principal, but jesus harold christ NOBODY WOULD DO THAT. Anybody with a quarter of a brain would immediately close the envelope, say he couldn't read it, and go find the runner-up.
well, with Burt, he's still pretty new at this so him being a bit "um" about the kilt thing was understandable, since he probably thought it was a skirt because Burt is not fashion-savvy as evidenced by his powder-blue tuxedo (and, like a good chunk of the american population, he probably isn't culture-savvy either).
but Blaine should have known better seeing as from what i remember from their dinner outing with Mercedes he's pretty in-tune with fashion.
and what Burt said was of course, a father only trying to protect his son. the rest of the students at the high school probably don't know the manliness a kilt entails because, y'know, silly Americans calling kilts skirts
( ... )
I sat up and shouted at the TV when Kurt's name was read. Because that wouldn't have happened back at the last prom I could have attended in 1982! 29 years ago!
One things I give Glee is that there isn't just one gay character. I just wish they'd stop making Kurt either clueless or a saint.
They actually covered the reaction to the kilt thing very well... I say this coming from a town that banned kilts from the parades because people thought it was "promoting a gay agenda to see men in skirts". Gotta remember they aren't in California, they're in a small conservative town in Ohio.
