Lemme know if you need tips on this in the future, because I've got a couple of different workarounds thanks to running a kink meme (which kind of NEEDS subject lines). It sounds like you've pretty much got it sorted; the import feature is pretty damn awesome, even if it takes a long time. Unfortunately as far as the icons go you're probably SOL, but the words are there at least.

Re: icons, if you haven't figured this trick out yet:

1) Go here
2) Log in with your RP Lj account in question (username.livejournal.com)
3) Verify etc
4) Manage icons, upload your maximum of fifteen, give them the exact same keywords you have on LJ
5) Icons!!

Yeah, I deliberately left the icons off. I have...198 icons for Rimmer, and close to that again for my OC. So...no point, I'm fine without 'em, and it sped up my import queue considerably.

FYI, apparently community imports are up on Dreamwidth now if you need/want to shift your musebox over there.

I have an account at DW for a small RP game, and I'm trying to figure out where the invite code is to get to making a new LJ and importing this account.

I know that they were doing free account creation, but that's over now, and I'm unfortunately out of invite codes. Hmm.

There's a very obvious place where it is, and right now I'm being totally blonde and not finding it.

I cannae find 'em.

But hey, looks like they haven't re-enabled codes yet. Creation is still free.

I also wonder if it manages to maintain all your privacy settings on various entries when you transfer.

Yes you do. In fact, since the journals on your privacy locks may or may not exist on DW, they just automatically go NOBODY IS IN THIS CUSTOM LOCK UNTIL YOU SAY SO. And private entries remain just that.

I am quite happy with DW, and plan on staying there for the foreseeable.
