That was very interesting, particularly in light of some of the scathing comments that followed it. I was particularly struck by those that said he was like an "orientalist". Personally I thought his critics were out to lunch and what he said made perfect sense.
The mythological divide that concerns me most is that between American creationists and, well, pretty much the rest of the civilized world. I actually believe that creationism is at the root of almost all American political problems. But unlike the afterlife vs. reincarnation distinction, this is between something that is actually true and something that is actually false.

If you have wheels and get a chance try out Church and State located at 1850 Industrial St, LA, CA near downtown LA. Great bistro food and reasonably priced, but closed on Sundays and possibly Mondays.
