First, while we are a country bound together by a constitution, they are really a common law marriage between provences. They have agreed in principle to unite, but don't know whether to do a civil ceremony or a big church wedding, etc. Every decade or so, they make another attempt. Newfoundland simply moved in back in the 40s and Quebec is the mistress that always threatens to leave. Sister that can't get a date, indeed.
For a while, the one dollar coin was the Loonie --a coin with a picture of a duck on the back. Why? It was supposed to be a moose, but the first die got lost in the mail. Fearing counterfeits,, they substituted what they had at hand. Some Canadians then started calling the two dollar coin the Dub-loonie. (Double, not in honor of our president.)
