I'm terrified of bees. We had some huge ones here last year. I was kinda hoping we wouldn't get any this year due to winter lasting longer. No such luck, as I saw a giant bee yesterday.

Yup! - That's what I believe the were called......many moons ago when I was a housepainter (In a previous life) these Wood Borer Bee's actually drilled holes (1/2") in the eaves of this house I was supposed to paint......terminator never got rid of the bee's and I never got to paint.......I don't remember them being aggressive as long as you left them alone......but they we're black (okay dark) and they we're BIG........this was back in the 70's (and I wasn't doing hallucinogenic drugs) and it was downstate NY (Westchester County - a VERY expensive home I might add - ritzy neighborhood - Clintons live down there now - there goes the neighborhood!!!! LoL!).....and I haven't seen anything like them since (Thank God!)

After looking around on the internet a bit, it seems that Carpenter Bees are quite numerous in the Eastern States and the Male Bees can be very aggressive... Or at least appear to be so since they do not have a stinger so they will hover close to people's heads and try to look like they are going to attack when in fact, they have nothing to attack with ( ... )
