Well, I have completed week one of my new job. It was a short week, since I started on Wednesday so only got 4 days in, but it seems to have gone fairly well. Congrats on the job. You're right about not dwelling on the things you can't change, that's never healthy. I must admit over the past few years I have enjoyed some of the stories, but I can see where that kind of environment can be brutal on you emotionally and physically. How's Dan's health these days? I hope he's doing well.
Though I truly LOVE to cook, I don't think I could ever do it professionally, besides, I absolutely love teaching, I can't imagine anything I'd rather do.
So here's hoping that the good things about this new job will outnumber any bad points by at least 100 to 1, you deserve it.

Yikes, you brought back painful memories of the restaurant business back home in Pittsburgh. I used to be a waiter at a restaurant in Greentree. I started busing tables downtown and the business moved to out and I went with it. Along came a promotion to waiting. I was content doing either at the time. Money didn't much matter to me. However, after 9 years in the business, premature graying, I decided that dealing with the public in that venue was just getting to me. Good to hear you are dealing...you sound like an awesome chef.
