I think you should try talking to management, i dont think they will be so unreasonable that they would punish you for bringing it up, but then again, i dont know the management anymore, everyone i worked with is gone.
Man, that's a tough call... I would say go to the top most person that you like and better, that likes you. Sell it to them with phrases that make them say yes: I'm a hard worker, right? Yes. You think I work well with the customers, right? Yes. I handle the stress and the bullshit in a professional manner, agreed? Yes. You like having me work in layaway and the service desk, correct? Yes. I should be paid for these positions then, right? Yes..... Get them on the yes train - get them to realize (and say) that you're a valuable employee and then get them to agree that you should be paid for the job that you do.
More reasons to proclaim: FUCK WAL-MART!jraevansApril 28 2005, 14:58:53 UTC
would you want to permantly switch to the level 4 job? if that could be a possibility, ask them if you could be up-graded. (and hence the pay goes with it, that way you don't have to discuss pay you can just act like you want to take on more responsibility and a harder job).
other than that sorry to say I have no clue. you're talkin to someone that worked at a deli for 2 years making $6.50 b/c he was too cheap to give me the pay and offical title of night supervisor, although that is what I was.
suck it up, and demand your pay. they won't make you work cashier, because they already need you in other areas. If you don't do this you'll be stuck at lvl 3.
As I'm wrighting this there is a Wal-Mart comercial on and I cant help wondering where the hell they find these happy smiling people to be in their comercials (they say they use wal-mart employees)and what level comercial actor is.
dude. they used to make me move all around the damn store. within one month of working there, i knew every single desk ... i could write licenses back at hardware, i knew every damn kind of soil in garden, i could change watch batteries at jewelry, and i could do returns/exchanges and layaways. i liked it because it was never the same thing, but it's a good thing they have those job codes now, because i was getting the same pay for someone who stood at the front, moved hella slow, and forgot to deactivate every other customer's shit. they even made me work the credit card table. the credit card solicitation table, now that's one you should be glad you never did. it's retarded for them not to pay you what they said (THEY SAID) you're worth.
