Hi I'm Chelle and I am getting ready to leaving for guide dog school for the first time on April 22nd, which is four days from now! I'm starting this journal to mark a new chapter in my life and share my experience as a first time guide dog handler-in-training, as well as to keep in touch with my family and friends.

Here's some background info ( Read more... )

That's my mini-kitty, Zoey. She's only 7 pounds, and mostly fluff and eye. She's not very smart, but she's very sweet and very, very cute.

Hi Chelle. It's Jessica Cashmore from the list. I know what you mean when you said how sighted people would try to guide you and stuff. It can get so annoying when they talk so rudely, telling us to watch where we are going. Oh you must be so excited about Guide dog school. I know I can't wait for the home interview. Good luck with everything.

I'm so excited that I'm having even more problems then normally falling asleep! Good luck with your home interview Jessica, Nick is the one conducting it right? If so Nick is great and I had a lot of fun with him. It's hard not to be smiling ear-to-ear during Juno because it's fantastic. If Juno is great, I'll probably cry when I first work with my dog, darn I don't cry often but I know that there are going to be lots of tears of joy on dog day and after that!

No, my field rep will be Chuck. It is the other Jessi that you are thinking of. I can only imagine how excited you are. There will most likely be a lot of tears shed throughout the month, most of them happy, some, maybe out of fear from what I have heard. It can get overwhelming, but it will all work out in the end.
