My thoughts on Prop 8 and the difference between a "civil union" and a "marriage".

This isn't going to be earth shattering insight, I'm sure someone somewhere said it earlier, or better, or both ( Read more... )

Very well said! I for one have struggled with this concept for many years, being raised Catholic, I have been brainwashed that marriage is a "sacrament, religious union" etc. It has only been in the last several years that I have come to believe that NOBODY can define marriage except those that are getting married. A person (or persons) should NEVER be punished for whom they love. And, just recently had the revelation/reminder, that EVERYONE should be EQUAL under the law. So, I'm voting NO on 8 and I feel it's the right choice...even if my small Catholic/Republican responsilities are having conniptions. It is RIGHT.

I want to thank you for wording what I've been trying to phrase myself.

I seriously think the simple point of when was the last time "separate but equal" EVER worked should be enough of an argument.

Thank you.

This is the first thing I've read that's reduced me to tears.

This is very well said. Bless you for saying it. Matt is a very lucky man, but I think he knows that. *hug*

Thank you.
