So last night was our concert and it was AWESOME. It bumped the Incubus concerts down to #2 and #3. It was soooo amazing. But let's back up. We left our house and went to the Ford Center at about 6 and went straight to will call so we could get our tix. We bought them on Sun. so there was no time for them to be mailed to us. Anyway, we got them and got in line and whoa. This stretch SUV limo pulled up and the people that walked out....damn. Now, those who dont know me well dont know how much I LOVE to talk about people. I live for it because Im a bitch. I couldnt talk about these people loud because they of course stood behind me in line. lol So we got in, got our "Musicology" cds, and Nic HAD to buy some souvenirs before we could sit. My mother sternly told me that we had to buy her something on Monday, so Donette gets what she asked for. Nic dropped MAD cash on two cute little bears with Prince on their shirts for my mom and herself, a DVD for my daddy so he can play along :), and a hot ass stocking cap with the "SYMBOL" on it for me. Blah blah. So we find our seats and sit down. Remember how I mentioned that I like to talk about people? Oh, there was plenty fodder for Chelle. There was so skanks, hoes, etc. But I really didnt get out of control until the tight red pleather wearing chick came in. OMG Me and Nic laughed for about 34289 minutes. All I could think of was if it got too hot, that bitch would permanently be wearing that suit..for eternity. So many people to make fun of. I literally HURT after all the laughter. ANYWAY. The show was supposed to start at 7:30, but I knew we'd be on CP (colored people)time, so it wasnt a surprise that it started at 8:30. Man, it was SO high energy! Me and Nic danced through the whole first section. He looked so SMALL. First thought: DAMN I WANNA PUT HIM IN MY POCKET. He had on this tux type thing and some white boots. HIGH boots of course. They had red lights in the heel. Very hot. I'd like to borrow them sometime. lol He played some oldies and some new songs. He started with Musicology. U Got the Look. Kiss. I Would Die 4 U. I Feel 4 U. etc. The funny thing was in I Feel 4 U & I Would Die 4 U, a lot of the "sexual" lines in the song were replaced with spiritual ones.
I'm your Messiah became HE'S your messiah.
I'm physically attracted to you became I'm SPIRITUALLY attracted to you.
Interesting to say the least, though I knew from an MTV.com article that the change was coming. Next there was a slow set after a bit of a break. He did songs like Nothing Compares 2 U, The Beautiful Ones, Sign 'O' the Times, and I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man. Really great. There was this like pearly curtain that dropped over him while he sang a suggestive song..the title eludes me now, but it was hot. He had on this purple polka dot top and white pants, I think. Very hot.
After the slow set he and the AWESOME band left the stage for about 15 mins. When he came back he had an acoustic guitar (cue the drool) and he sat on this swivel chair that had a mic attached. He then sang Little Red Corvette and some other new songs. One was really funny and cute about telemarketers and bill collectors. Bill collectors even fuck with Prince. Who knew? Anyway, he left AGAIN and when he came back he had a purple SYMBOL guitar and what did he sing, you ask?
Purple Rain.
I wanted to cry, so bad, but I didnt. I kept it all in check. YOu should be proud. :) It was so beautiful. I felt smushy. YOu know that feeling you get when your favorite song is performed right before your eyes. Yeah. I was feelin that.
God. A great show all in all. I missed a lot, and Nic will probably fill in the blanks, but yeah. Awesome. The band...OMG perfect in every instrument. They were doing some dances me and Nic was doing. Dj, you should be proud of me, baby! :)
Best thing he said: "I dont believe in lip-synching. (*cough BRITNEY SPEARS cough*) Look at my FACE, Oklahoma!" *enter the ADORABLY cute pout* :]
I honestly couldnt tell that he's a year older than my MOTHER. lol (45). Y'all should have seen him groove! That mutha is the MASTER of dancing. He ALMOST puts James to shame, ok?! Granted, he dyes his hair (thank God it was stacked) and he had on some base, but still. That sucka looked good. I was a lil turned on. :X lol His voice? Immaculate. All high notes hit, kiddies. I was so proud to have on my SEVENTIES FUNK shirt. Yeah, he came out after the 70s, but we have some of the same funk heroes. I was one with Prince, suckas. :) The word for the night was "FUNKY".
Enter hater moment: Yes, his concert tix were $80. Madonna's are almost twice that. WTF? WHY the fuck? She has about as much talent as he has in his toenail, thanks. No más.
One last thing: I really hoped he would go old school and come out in the trenchcoat and panties. It's a shame I didnt get my wish. :):):):):) lol

Prince and the New Power Generation like it funky. Prince brought his latest world tour, "Musicology," to the Ford Center in downtown Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, supporting the soon to be released album of the same name.
Prince concert review
Who: Prince, with the New Power Generation.
What: "Musicology" world tour, sixth stop on tour.
When/where: 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Ford Center, Oklahoma City.
Genre: R&B, jazz, blues, pop.
Rating: A+
After an almost hour delay, the lights lowered at 8:20 p.m. The show opened with a quick video montage of Prince's greatest hits, accompanied with a replay of the lovely Alicia Keys' induction speech from late last year when Prince entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"There are many kings, but there is only one Prince," praised Keys. "Only one man who has defied restriction, defied the obvious and all the rules of the game."
From there a funkfest commenced.
After the opening groove, the James Brown-like "Musicology" title track, Prince wasted no time getting into the stuff fans knew by heart, led by "Let's Go Crazy," and the party was on - complete with confetti streaming from the rafters.
The "Musicology" tour is rumored to feature some of the final performances of some of his classics. Yeah right. Heard that one before. Cher's Farewell Tour has played the Ford Center how many times?
Prince, 45, ripped through some of his hits, clearly wanting to showcase his new stuff and to make a point:
"I BELIEVE IN FUNKY MUSIC!" he screamed, whipping the crowd into frenzy. Then he took it a step further.
"There's been a lot of lip-syncing on this stage since I was last here," he said to cheers and laughs. "We have real music because we have real musicians."
After taking that shot at Britney and others, Prince launched into a series of songs from "Musicology." Clearly the crowd was ready to party to the oldies and barely knew the new release, a danger of going on a world tour before the CD is even released.
Prince may defy restrictions or even pronounceable names (remember the days of The Artist Formerly Known As?). But there's no getting around one fact: this cat has major talent. His blues solo midway through the show was reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan, a lofty achievement in itself.
You remember the solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony? Rolling Stone magazine called it "devastating." Prince gave several stunning glimpses of his talent during the live show.
The stage was a cross-shaped, simple layout in the round with the usual light show. Prince was wheeled to the stage inside an equipment box, and appeared to leave in similar manner. Not many pull off the red, glittering heels though.
Fans were delayed getting into the Ford Center due to security, but were treated to a free copy of the new "Musicology" CD.
This seems to be a trend by major artists, George Michael says his next album will be released free online. I'm sure that makes Sony happy. Prince has had label problems with Arista and Warner Bros. and is now signed with Columbia. With all the fuss over pirated music, Columbia can't be too pleased with the Artist giving away his product. But the fans, who paid $45-$75 or more per ticket depending on service charges, probably feel they already paid for it. And good for them.
Like U2 and Bruce Springsteen, while the CD is good, it's better live. "Musicology," the opening track, is pure Motown live, but sounds restricted on CD.
Some have complained about the sound in the Ford Center, and perhaps it still depends on where you're sitting. To me, the Rolling Stones didn't sound that great. I've heard some say Elton John was hard to understand, while others had no problem. Regardless, from my perch, the New Power Generation sounded in fine form.
Saxophonist Mike Phillips may not have wowed 'em in Big D last weekend, but he was smokin' hot in OKC. Phillips provided a stunning sax solo, one of many solos various band members had while flexing the NPG's music skills. Unfortunately, jazz sax legend Maceo Parker, who played during several tour/club warm ups earlier this year, did not play.
Now a Jehovah's Witness, Prince has dialed the perversity way back, except for innuendo in his lyrics. There was very little explicitness - save the couple in front of me who went strong for 2 straight hours - on stage.
Perhaps the highlight of the show came towards the end of the set, when Prince had several females and one guy from the audience join him onstage. During "Kiss," the Clark Kent-looking dude, with arms flailing, attempted to get his groove on, and to his credit, Prince gave him props instead of embarrassing the guy.
Unlike the tour opening stop in Reno, security did not escort anyone off the stage for touching Prince. After opening in Reno, Prince played Staples in L.A., then Bakersfield and Phoenix before Dallas on Friday. Next up, Omaha on Wednesday.
After a long, and I mean annoyingly long, wait for the encore, Prince sat on a barstool mid-stage and performed an acoustic version of "Little Red Corvette" and "7," before closing with a powerful version of "Purple Rain
