From the pages of Celebrity Magazine:

Kradam was the portmanteau fans gave Kris Allen and Adam Lambert not long into the eighth season of American Idol, the season which rocketed each of them to fame. Fans latched onto the warm relationship between the two contestants who were roommates in the Idol Mansion, who became fast friends over the weeks of performances and eliminations, and who were the eventual final two contestants (Allen won).

In the years since, fans have avidly kept watch for any sign the two men have remained close. They sighed when they tweeted each other, whether it was one wishing the other a happy birthday or mutual congratulations for new CD releases. They swooned when one of them mentioned the other in an interview. They were fervently convinced the two were conducting a secret affair, despite Allen's marriage to his high school sweetheart, Katy, and Lambert's multi-year relationship with Finnish boyfriend Sauli Koskinen.

Fans were rewarded for their patience on the weekend before Thanksgiving. Allen and Lambert were invited to perform together at the American Music Awards (at which Lambert was nominated for Favorite Male Pop/Rock Artist). After offering a mash-up combining several of their hits, including Allen's "Vision of Love" and Lambert's "Never Close Our Eyes," Lambert got down on one knee and, in front of a stunned audience, proposed to Allen. To absolutely no one's surprise, Allen accepted.

Celebrity Magazine's Kelly Miller was lucky enough to get to sit down with the happy couple the next day to get the full, exclusive, unedited scoop.

Miller: Congratulations, gentlemen.

Lambert: Thank you.

Miller: I know your fans are very excited about your engagement. The Twitterverse has been very busy since the proposal trying to figure out just when it was you officially got together. Can we start there?

Allen: Sure. (Looks over at Lambert with a smile; Lambert nods and gestures for Allen to start) Well, as you know, we were friends right from the very start. I thought Adam was amazing from the moment I met him.

Lambert: You were pretty amazing, too.

Allen: Stop trying to make me blush! Anyway, we were roommates in the mansion and bunkmates on the Idol tour bus. Adam was my best friend.

Lambert: But he was married.

Allen: I was married. Katy and I had gotten married not long before Idol. She was my high school sweetheart. It wasn't until I met Adam and we got close that I began to realize that I might be a little bisexual.

Lambert: A little?

Allen: Shush! I'm telling a story. Anyway, after the Idol tour, we kind of went our separate ways. I recorded two albums, he recorded two albums. Katy and I traveled back and forth between Los Angeles and Arkansas, and Adam met Sauli at the end of his first tour.

Miller: Were you in touch during that time?

Lambert: (Looking at Allen) May I? (Allen nods) Whenever we could be. It was a pretty busy time. Sometimes it was just trading tweets, sometimes we texted. We were occasionally able to get together for coffee or a drink, once in a while dinner. It was like a whirlwind those days, though, what with recording and tours and publicity. Managing relationships wasn't easy.

Miller: So, what would you say was the turning point in your relationship?

Allen: Last January, Katy and I decided to separate. I realized our marriage wasn't working for me anymore. I wanted more. And I didn't want Katy stuck in a relationship with someone whose heart was no longer in it. That wasn't fair to her, and she was gracious enough to grant me first a separation, then a divorce.

Lambert: That month, I invited Kris to my birthday party, and we actually got a chance to sit and talk. He told me about the separation and how he thought he might be bisexual. When I asked him what had made him think that, he told me I had.

Allen: I knew Adam was still with Sauli, but I needed him to know how I felt.

Lambert: As the world knows, I had quite a crush on Kris back in the Idol days. I was a little stunned when he told me the feeling was mutual. After that, Sauli and I began to fight a lot. It wasn't his fault. I was so confused by the thought that I actually had a chance with Kris. In March, Sauli and I broke up. It was perfectly amicable. He understood what was going on.

Miller: Was that when the two of you got together?

Allen: No. I told Adam he needed not to just jump from one thing into another. He needed time to get over Sauli.

Lambert: But I only needed about a month, which coincided with the start of my U.S. Trespassing tour. I asked Kris to come on tour with me. At first, I only intended for it to be kind of an extended vacation for him, but it didn't take long for the record company to see dollar signs and ask Kris to be my opening act.

Miller: It was an amazing show you guys put on. Was it as much fun behind the scenes as it was to watch on the stage?

Allen and Lambert: (In unison) More.

Miller: So during the summer, that was when your relationship took off?

Allen: It was such a great way to start our relationship. A lot of time together while on such a creative venture. I can honestly say it was one of the best times in my life.

Lambert: It was truly amazing. The shows were electric. Our fans gave us such great support and energy. And Adam and I got a lot of time in between shows to get to reintroduce ourselves to each other.

Miller: Was this tour the inspiration for the producers of the American Music Awards to invite you to come give a performance together?

Allen: I think it was.

Miller: So, Adam, tell us about when you decided you wanted to propose live on stage.

Lambert: (Chuckles) As opposed to something a little more private?

Miller: Yes. Why a public proposal?

Lambert: Well, I admit that it was an unusual move. Most people in the public eye want to propose to their boyfriend or girlfriend as privately as humanly possible. But I thought about it, and I decided that the whole reason Kris and I even met was because of something that was a huge public event. So it just made sense to share it with all the people who made it happen.

Allen: Such an Adam way of thinking.

Miller: So, Kris, take us through what you were thinking there on stage.

Allen: Sure. When the song was over, I went to shake hands with Adam. It had gone so great, better than I could have imagined. When I got up to him, he put his hand in his pocket and got down on one knee.

I remember being vaguely aware of the lights staying on and the loud cheering from the audience, but I was mostly focused on Adam. When he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him, I felt like time had frozen. And I felt completely surrounded by love.

Miller: And you said "yes."

Allen: Of course I said "yes." I loved Katy so much, and she was what I needed during the time we were together, but I have never loved anyone as much as I love Adam. I am so excited that I get to be his husband.

(Lambert leans over and kisses Allen)

Miller: You two could cause someone to go into sugar shock.

(Lambert and Allen just smile)

Miller: So, when will the nuptials be?

Lambert: (Sheepishly) I didn’t think much further ahead than the proposal, to be honest. We just need a little time to plan everything.

Allen: I'm just happy knowing it's going to happen. We're going to be married. I can wait for everything to be perfect. (Pitches voice low) Adam likes things to be perfect.

Lambert: You say that like it's a bad thing.

Allen: Just one of the many things I love about you.

Miller: Thank you both so much for sitting down with us to talk about your engagement. Congratulations!

Lambert and Allen: (In unison) Thank you.

Kelly Miller also sat down with Katy Allen, Kris Allen's ex-wife. The two are still close friends and when Celebrity Magazine called her, she was happy to talk with us about her ex-husband's engagement to Adam Lambert.

Miller: So, Katy, where were you when the proposal happened?

Allen: I was watching on TV at home, just like everyone else.

Miller: Had you known Adam was going to propose?

Allen: I had figured he was going to eventually. I had no idea he was going to propose at the AMAs in front of everyone. But Adam has been known for grand romantic gestures, so I am not surprised that he decided to do what he did.

Miller: So, what ran through your mind when Adam got down on one knee and asked Kris to marry him?

Allen: I'm so happy for Kris. He is truly in love with Adam, and Adam treats him like a prince. It’s what Kris deserves.

Miller: Was it at all hard to watch since at one time that was Kris proposing to you?

Allen: (Shaking her head) I love Kris; always have, always will. But he wasn't able to be his true self until he admitted that he was bisexual and in love with a man. Seeing him together with Adam is a joy. They are truly amazing together. It's what was meant to be.

Miller: And how about you? Anyone special in your life these days?

Allen: (Mysteriously) Maybe. It's still new. I'd rather keep him to myself for a little while longer, if that's okay.

Miller: Of course. Has he met Kris?

Allen: He has, actually. And Kris approved. I know that as much as I want him to be happy, he wants me to be happy. It's what makes him so special.

Miller: Then good luck to you both. Thank you for sitting down with us.

Allen: My pleasure.

Finally, to round out our coverage of this event, wedding planner Michael Tanner shares his thoughts on the Kradam wedding. What would he do if he were asked to plan the Wedding of the Century?

For starters, I will go after this job with everything I have. Call me, boys!

This is a wedding joining two completely disparate men. Adam is all glitz and glamour, while Kris is all down-home plaid. Any wedding ceremony and reception would need to honor both of those sensibilities.

I think the wedding ceremony should be very traditional. I've met both Kris and Adam before, and they are both romantics. I believe they will want a chance to promise themselves to each other before an official of some kind and all their family and friends. I imagine a ton of flowers, a real organist, both men in tuxes, the whole enchilada.

The reception, though, will have to be a far more raucous affair. It will have to be held at a location well suited to host a lot of people. After all, this will be a major event, and the list of people who need to be invited is long. There will have to, of course, be a live band, maybe a combo made from Kris and Adam's bands. The food will have to be prepared by one of Los Angeles's top chefs. Hors d'oeuvres to die for and a main dish everyone will be talking about for days. And the cake…the cake will be spectacular. Maybe the Cake Boss will make it!

There will be a dance floor, obviously, and everyone will wait with bated breath for the grooms to take their first dance as husbands. It will be wildly romantic. Truly a night to remember for all.

(End)
