background noise

I work pretty well at coffee shops. The noise around me becomes a helpful distraction, in that I tune it out to tune my work in. If the volume is turned up too much on the outside noise, I can always slip on a set of headphones and use some music to balance the situation

speaking of canceling background noise, I had to do such a thing today in a Doc's waiting room. I knew I would be there a while, so I brought a book I have been trying to keep going before I lose where I am. Well, the office decided that Judge Judy was the best entertainment to have on the TV. That, or they just left it on. I can't stand that crap but it is not the type of material that can just be ignored either. Luckily, I had myPOD with me. I have various nature CDs on it so I was able to read my book while listening to a soothing thunderstorm. I need to remember that trick.

i also think I need a pair of denim pants that say phos on the butt pocket. figure that one out and laugh and/or glare at me later...
