So let me get this straight--Larry King is getting his 8th divorce, Elizabeth Taylor is possibly getting married for a 9th time, Britney Spears had a 55 hour marriage. Jesse James and Tiger Woods are screwing EVERYTHING--yet the idea of same-sex marriage is going to destroy the institution of marriage

*sigh* True, very true; but the people who feel most threatened by homosexuals don't feel this way. *shrug* I couldn't possibly understand.

I don't understand either. It makes me so sad to think that the world is still so ridiculous about this. The thing that upsets me almost more than how people can't accept same-sex marriage is that some day we will be ok with it, but people will find something else to discriminate against and hate. It's so sad :/

As a species, we're programmed to be wary of "strangers" and we instinctively use signals that tell us the person we're looking at is a stranger, like skin color. But since we're not supposed to discriminate against skin color anymore, as a society, we've transitioned that signal to more subtle clues, like voice pitch, clothing style, and relationships. I'm not saying it's right, not at all, but it's something that we all have to struggle against, even if we were raised to be accepting of all people. *sigh* But a lot of people weren't, and they aren't afraid of letting their opinions out. These people, because they are so vocal, get the support that so many others lack. It's not fair, but it's human nature.
