I think this community has been as dead as the band itself for the last year or so 8(

I haven't listened to MCR in a while now and thus didn't really catch up with news. Why do they split (or not plit)?

I don't know how there could be rumours that it's not a split. Gerard was pretty frank about it.

There was rumor. Somehow fans picked a part tweets from friends and family close to the band and managed to spin it in to some elaborate thing with MCR relaunching under a new name. I don't know HOW they were able to read those things into the tweets they cited.. i guess if you try hard enough you will see what you want to see. I think they were all just in the denial stage of grieving. SOme of the online tabloid type mags even picked it up.. Oy vay!!!!

i feel like all of the Chem fans that used to live on Livejournal all moved to other sites... or bands.
It's really kinda sad because it seems that a lot of us were pre-killjoy fans and I think it would have been interesting to get a pre-killjoy point of view and discussion on all of it. Don't get me wrong there are some decent killjoys out there but they aren't the same as the old LJ fans.

I had kinda hoped that the core players here would have returned as a last reunion as the band ended... to discuss and reminisce and such... This was the place to be back in the day and I made a ton of amazing friends here in LJ land. Thank you all for that!

It just seemed like the community changed post-killjoy and new fans I met seemed to be primarily into the roll play aspect of it. I know for a fact it caused me to stop following them as closely but I wonder if it was the same for other members on here?

Another change I felt was after going to concerts post-killjoy by myself. I went two nights in a row and both nights girls behind me were physically injuring me in order to get to the front. I'm more than used to the squeeze and jostle effect of concerts but this was worse than I had experienced and have experience since. I'm talking about one girl pinching and twisting skin on my back and using her boot to rub off the skin of my ankles. Just wicked behavior.

This was definitely my experience, too. I don't want to knock all the post-killjoy fans because I met some cool people waiting in line for those shows. But I went to my first MCR show back in 2006 and the vibe was totally different. I saw them after Killjoys came out in New York and Boston, and New York was noticeably worse than Boston, but neither show was great, the general vibe of the crowd did seem to have changed quite a bit.

If I could like your comment, I would.

I think a lot has changed since way back then. Some people are in a better place when it comes to life and some have just moved elsewhere.
Most of my friends have actually put their passion into other things and just a few of them are still hung up on what this band and fandom used to be.

That said, I really appreciate what this band has done for me. It's given me the chance to travel throughout Europe and meet all the amazing people I've met because of them, whether I'm still talking to them or not. I will always cherish the memory and, especially, this band. They'll always have a place in my heart.

Maybe we're all too busy being stunned and saddened. I know I am. (And just when they'd gotten to a point where they could've been huge! What a loss for music. :( )
