hey jordan- i think you should find that article. i'd like to read it and send it to one of my professors. we talked a lot about "the guy wanting to stare at computer-generated female anatomy for hours on end" thing in this class, but it never occurred to any of us that it might be a "protection" thing (mayhaps because there are no males in the class?). anyway- article! pleeeease?
We talked a little about the staring at compter-generated female anatomy thing in Gender in Computer Game design - also about the idea that the player has some sort of relationship with the character, both in terms of protecting her and in terms of controling her. I wonder if similar factors enter into the picture if I, as a woman, want to play a male character? Oh, the complications.
