Tutorial #3

This was done in PS7, but it should translate to other programs.

This is my old style of coloring, requested by maesstria. It's ridiculously simple, and doesn't include curves or selective coloring.

1. Duplicate your base, set the layer to Overlay at 80%. (If this is too strong for your icon, just change Overlay to Soft Light.) I didn't sharpen my base; I just left it alone.

2. Duplicate the base again, set the layer to Screen (the opacity depends on how dark your base is). In this case, the image is almost too light, so I set the opacity to just 10%.

3. Make a new layer. Fill it with #142844, set to Exclusion at 40%. This layer goes underneath the Overlay layer and above the Screen layer.

That's it! Make sure to play around with the opacities to better fit your icon.
