Have I got news for you.

Heart-Shaped Box: A Novel arrived on my "to read" pile by way of a recommendation made by Neil Gaiman to which Mitch Benn promptly acquiesce (apparently he yields to Mr. Gaiman's judgement in most matters). Mr. Benn then proceeded to review the book in his podcast to which I listened to and thought that yes, the book did ( Read more... )

I was away for a bit and come back to post behind LJcuts due to mature content... It's all very not-me. I like to curse. Where would I be without my "fuck me and flip me over"?! Or fuck a duck? Or just old, plain fuck a fuck?!
The trip is just a first step to going back to being me.

You can fix that - go here: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/

scroll to the bottom and make your choices.

Just using profanity doesn't make your journal adult :D I set mine to "no adult content", because I don't post porn and such :D

Hey!
I was wondering about your book the other day. How is it going? I'm so out of things these days.
BTW - do you use an agency to rent in England? I'm thinking of renting a flat in London around late July for a week and need it to be central (going to ride the tube) and safe. Drop me a line if you have any ideas (going to ask paratti also).

Hi hi!

As for books -- I have two completed novels making the rounds of rejection [sigh], and I'm working on a third.

As for flats -- are you up to *some* walking, ie. a half-mile or so to the Tube? If so, the Nell Gwynn House is where I always stay if I'm going to be in London at least a week. They don't rent for shorter than a week, but it's a lovely Chelsea neighbourhood AND it's right across the street from paratti. :-))

[hugs a million]

Have a great time. I'm sure you will. The penguins and the glaciers are fantastic.

I'm leaving next week and am already packed. Sad. There was a time I'd pack the hour before leaving for the airport and now I'm like an overeager puppy.

One thing.. I asked ljs and I'm asking you now - do you know of a holiday rental agency you can rec? I'm thinking of renting a flat in London this July and wanted something central (planning on using the tube). Even if you don't know an agency, do you mind giving me some tips on which areas would be okay for me? Thank you in advance.

One last thing... Have you been every-frelling-where?! I bow to you!

Anticipation makes everything better:)

I don't know one but I'll ask around. Anywhere within Zone 1 on the tube will be easy to get around from, especially with an Oyster Card, which works on the tube and the buses. The places with lots of hotels and places to eat/drink in the evening include South Ken/Earls Court and Bayswater, but if you ask on LJ re specifics before booking we'll all be able to help a lot better.

I haven't been to Australia (It fell through) or Antartica (wants) but I have been to all the other continents and I did do South America pretty thoroughly. And hte penguins and glaciers wredefinite highlights. Thanks:)

Some good days, some so-so days and some pretty awful ones. If I wait for this body of mine to get completely better, I'd never go anywhere ever again.
