Sunshine and Good Bye

Paraty is undoubtedly a beautiful city. The solid colonial houses with high windows and frames painted in bright colours line cobblestone streets that have remained unchanged for the past 200 years. (Trust me, for Brazil 200 years is a very long time.) It’s a specially unique place full of peculiarities - about once a month, when the moon is full ( Read more... )

Do you have an itinerary? I'm on the rail route from London to York and if I'm in the UK when you're on that leg of your trip, it would be the ideal time for us to meet.

They're repeating ISIHAC on BBC and it still makes me smile.

They're also doing a mini-Discworld series to mark Terry's 60th birthday. Small Gods ep 2 yesterday.

I did have one, but I have to do it over - I was too ambitious and was told there was no way I would get through all of it. So I've cut down to mostly the capitals and York.
I do know that London will be at the end of July - so York should be a couple of days before the last week of July, but I'll e-mail you directly.

I'll be in London around the third week of July and will stay on until the first week of August. I sincerely hope we can meet.

One of the things I want to do when in London is try to buy the 50th series CD. One of my favourite moments was when Rob Brydon sang Who Do You Think You're Kidding Mr. Hitler... One of many times ISIHAC made my day a bit better.

Did you hear the interview? There are times I don't understand the Plan.

The BBC is pretty much my addiction at this point. I have shows I listen to and then download (hurray for podcasts!) - like The Now Show.

And the Internet - well, we wouldn't know each other without it...

Yes. The BBC made a huge difference in my life. More than I thought possible.

It got the point that I need broadband just so I can sleep.

BTW - Really like your icon.

I loved Paraty when I visited there so much so that I had an artist commissioned to do a large oil of the city. I have it now hanging in my living room and bringing lots of good memories back. I so loved my two year stay in Brazil and miss it.

Enjoy your travels.

Long time no see!

One of the great things about Paraty is that it never changes. The years pass by and the only thing you'll notice is a sign that says Internet Cafe on one of the restaurants off the main square...

I'm trying to figure out how to post the pictures and will let you know :)
