CliffRose BaCC: Fall year 1 Dominion
Word of warning, this is mostly Lina spam....you may continue.
Wealth has it's advantages, we all know this, and one of them is opening doors to amazing opportunites. I will not lie and say we were chosen because of all of the right reasons but my wife and I are happy and excited to start this new chapter in our marriage, our lives, in history. I can't say we aren't terrified, the training was intense; months of excersise, testing, and survival skills training took it's toll on us both. Add to that half a year on a shuttle traveling to the settlement and we were happy to settle into our new, if small home.
As part of our contract and agreement with Project CliffRose and NASA all of our assets on Earth are transffered to NASA leaving us with little. The transition from a penthouse to a small dorm-like dwelling has been hardest on Lina but all we need is one another and we will never feel the loss. -Elwood 1.1
Lina: Today is such a beautiful day!
Elwood: I'm happy to see you smiling, you've been in a slump since we got here.
Lina: I was just feeling homesick but then I realized this si home now...and there's a bed that needs christening...
That was really all he needed to hear.
She really is the love of his life.

Sometimes neighbors show up at incovienient times. Matt and Josephine (not pictured) are a little embarassed by the mostly naked Elwood but Cherrie never wore clothes until she moved from her island at 17 so it doesn't phase her a bit.
Cherrie: Mr. Dominion, how are you today?
Elwood: I'm great Cherrie, would you all like to come in....I was a bit busy but we're always open to guests.
Josephine: Oh, I haven't had much trouble adjusting, the bed is nice and there is a telescope set up at our dorm so i'm more than confortable.
Lina: Well Sweetheart you didn't come from anything so you've nothing to miss. This place is quite depressing when you're used to living in a real home.
Elwood: Honey, maybe you shouldn't...
Elwood knows how is wife is, she has a serious supiriority complex, so he's already preparing his apology to Josephine.
Josephine: Excuse me!?
Lina: It's only the truth no need to be offended.
Elwood notices that Matt was preparing to come to his sisters rescue so instead of allowing a fight to start he tries to smooth things over.
Elwood: So do people in college still play hackey sack? It was big back in my day.
Matt: Way back in the stone age when you would break off pieces of boulder to kick around?
Elwood: Pretty much.
Niether of the girls had ever played and it wasn't long before the four were having a great time. Once or twic Cherrie slipped and fell trying to kick the ball with her healed shoes causing the whole group to erupt with laughter. All except Lina who just watched her husbands smooth ease with people and wondered how he did it. People used to flock to her and it didn't matter how she treated them or what they said but after she lost her money and power no one put up with her rude remarks and she still wasn't used to it.
Elwood takes the game quite seriously.
Lina does try her best to make friend, at least for Elwoods sake.
Lina: So Cherrie, is it? We didn't get to talk much during the trip but I noticed you have an accent. Is English your second language? I'm biligual as well.
Cherrie: No. I don't speak anything but English, I just grew up around people who speak with this accent.
Lina: oh where are you from?
Cherrie: Hawai'i
Lina: Hmm, the accent doesn't sound Hawaian?
Cherrie: It's Hawaian.
And with that she walked away.
Why am I so bad at this?
Elwood knows how to make her feel better.
This life is completely different than Lina had expected; she's not sure what she expected but this was not it. She was used to food that just appeared on the table when she was hungry and simply giving other people money to do all the rest of it She counted herself extrememly lucky to have Elwood to do most of the hard work but every now and again she felt he deserved to sleep while she pulled weeds.
Preganacy also wasn't wht Lina expected. she had always planned on becoming pregnant in order to be known as the mother of the first true Martian but in her mind pregnancy would be a time when she 'glowed' and got to lounge around and care for her growing belly. Instead she spent many weeks rushing to the compost toilet, or outside (Elwood always told her to aim for the compost bin or at least the garden bed but she didn't find him funny at all). Her back hurt, her anckles hurt and she wanted FOOD. Real food like cheetoes and bologna not tomatoes from the garden.
I just need to relax more.
Lina: ELWOOD! oh no oh no!
This should have been my hint to give everyone a real stove but I'm dense
Lina: Oh damn! The button on these pants just popped! I'm so fat! Do you think i look fat?
Elwood: *coughchokedie* Uh, honey you're beautiful, even more so that you're pregnant!
Lina: That isn't what I asked...
We'll pretend this makes sense since they are supposed to be hauling water for baths
Lina also saw the beautiful butterfly like creatures and even managed to catch a few in her samples jar!
Birth hit Lina like a truck. she couldn't believe the months had flown by so quickly but time seemed weird on the red planet. She didn't have much time to think on it though, all she could focus on was trying to breath while Elwood held her hand and sang her a song.
Maybe it was how birth was for every women, or maybe it was the magic of Mars mixed with the soothly feeling of the song but the pain slid away before Lina could register the change and she felt warm all over, like she was floating in a tub. She would swear later that she saw a green light sparkling around her as she brought her baby into the world (Elwood later claimed he never saw such a thing)
Maris Dominion
Niether Lina nor Elwood knew it was possible to love someone as much as they both love Maris, their little Martian.
Even if she si a diva like her Mom.
Lina: All clean Stinky butt!
Maris: *gurggles*
So much can change with one desicion. Before Project CliffRose Lina was unsure about children and thought maybe we could adopt later on in life but her quest for fame brought us to Mars, and brought us Maris. Lina may seem shallow but she adores her daughter. I remember the moment she fell in love, it was while watching Maris' feet press against the inside of her belly; I walked in to find her smiling, tears streaming down her face watching the little bumps move. She said "I never thought i could love someone more than you!" and we laughed. For me it came when she did, when I saw her for the first time and help guide her into the world. The whole experience was almost magical. - Elwood 1.1
Magic is the right word. There is magic here. I used to hear stories about lost civilizations on Mars but they were always just tales to make us wonder...but you all must know that there is something. I felt it when Maris was born. She is a Martian and the planet knows it. -Angelina 1.1

Guys I love this family okay? Okay.
So Lina is a fortune Sim and Elwood is popularity but both of them rolled a want to have a baby the moment I loaded the lot. Which is good since I was going to make them have one anyway :)
Now I promised myself to randomize all the names for this (unless it's crazy then i'll re-roll) but i wanted the first baby to have a really cliche name so i thoght Ares, or Marvin for a boy but then they had a girl and I was darwing a blank so I went on one of my trusty name meaning websites and looked up names that mean things like Mars, Space, Stars and I found Maris which mean 'star of the sea' and is just the word Mars with and 'i' so it was perfect!
I can't tell you how many pictures of Linas face I had to cut from this...she is gorgeous! And she is just a preset in CAS (I have custom default face templates) but i didn't want to tweak her at all bc i thought that default was too cute. Elwood is also pretty good looking so i'm excited for Maris to grow up! She has his skin and eyes and her hair.
