Summary: Chanyeol knows Jongdae is his soulmate the moment he sees him.
Chanyeol feels it the moment he steps into the cafe. Something is pulling him further into the establishment and he follows it, taking steps forward until he finds himself in the queue. His heart is starting to beat crazily in his chest and butterflies are forming in his stomach, and while he has a feeling of what is causing it, he doesn't know for sure and he can't wait to find out.
Growing up, his mother had told him stories of people who fall in love at first sight. He's also been told that there is someone meant for everyone out there and that it only takes time before they find each other. Chanyeol believes in every word his mother had told him and until today he's been waiting for The One. He has been in a few failed relationships and while he's scared about falling in too deep, he does anyway and each time the relationship starts to fall apart, he knows he's not with the right person but his heart breaks all the same.
What he's feeling now is different. He's never felt this way before and he feels like he's going to burst from anticipation. The feeling intensifies as he gets closer to the counter and he finally, finally meets eyes with someone.
Chanyeol is standing in front of a boy with light brown hair and a smile on his face. The ends of his lips curl up and he looks kind of like a cat. Chanyeol moves his eyes down to the left side of the boy's chest where there's a nametag that reads Jongdae.
Jongdae asks for Chanyeol's order and Chanyeol resists the urge to tell him that he thinks they're meant to be. Instead, Chanyeol puts in an order for a green tea latte and Jongdae's number.
He never expected to get it and he was thinking of coming back to the cafe daily just to see Jongdae but then he's handed a small slip of paper with numbers hastily written down, along with a 'you're cute' at the side with a smiley face drawn below it. He looks up and Jongdae winks at him and mouths that he's ending at six.
That night as the two walk down the street hand in hand, Chanyeol finally gathers the courage and tells Jongdae what made him ask for his number.
"This might sound creepy and all, but I think we're soulmates," Chanyeol starts. "Call it instinct if you will, but I felt it the second I walked inside that cafe."
"I'm glad I'm not the only one," Jongdae replies, to Chanyeol's surprise. "My mother told me that we all have someone special for us and that I'll know when I see him. I thought it was all bullshit until I saw you."
Chanyeol stops in his tracks and looks down at Jongdae, who looks back up at him with a soft smile on his face and Chanyeol feels a lot like he's falling deeper in love. He wraps a hand around Jongdae's neck and Jongdae reacts by standing on his toes and wrapping his arms around Chanyeol's neck. Jongdae's the one who leans forward and places his lips over Chanyeol's, who responds just as eagerly.
His heart beats wildly in his chest and he knows Jongdae can feel it with how their bodies are pressed so close together. For once, he's not afraid to let himself fall because he knows he's not the only one who feels this way. He knows that Jongdae is here to stay.
