I agree with sam on the Thanksgiving feast being American but also, Cajun is American. It's just a blend of American with southern spices basically. So southern style. Northern style is usually more fish, lobster, that sort of thing. Although those particular things may not be american how they're prepared often is. Take new england clam chowder for instance...
