Morning Routine that is working

May 18, 2016 09:29

For the record, so when nothing works next fall I can at least remember what worked this spring.
6:45am - My clock radio alarm goes off. Sometimes I snooze it 10 minutes. On my way to the bathroom I tell Smiles it's time to get up (this rarely permeates her consciousness).

7:00am or so - I go into Smiles' room and sit on her bed and wake her up. Socks/tights are added to her.

7:10am - Warn Smiles that it's time to go downstairs. We go downstairs (usually she potties) and figure out breakfast.

7:20am - By now Smiles should have breakfast in front of her, be sitting in front of the TV, and watching the first half of a two part kids' show. I eat my breakfast, feed the cats, and get Smiles' lunch in her backpack.

7:35am - My phone alarm goes off (for the first time). If the TV show is not already paused, we pause the TV. I go into the living room and sit with Smiles until she is done with breakfast. She goes to brush and floss.

7:45am - My phone alarm goes off (for the second time). This is Smile's last chance to watch the second half of her show, if she has not already started to. I finish my morning stuff because it actually takes me more than 15 minutes.

7:55am - Time for us to go out the door. Smiles puts on shoes and sunscreen and we head to the car.

8:05am- If we are seated in the car by this time we are not late for school, assuming no major traffic snafus or getting stuck behind a garbage truck.
