Minseok has too many insecurities and too many things to live by but Jongdae thinks he's absolutely perfect.

Just Perfect;

This is a usual pattern for Minseok. Every nightly lesson he had with Zitao ended in bickering that cracked through the thin walls of their dorm complex, the increasing noise levels traveling through all the rooms and Yifan would eventually have to intervene, telling, not asking Zitao to bunk with him and Jongdae to sleep with Minseok.

And then the next day, Minseok would sheepishly knock on Yifan's room, sitting himself on the mattress next to Zitao, whispering kind words and apologies with a tight embrace, sorrow and regret lingering in his touches. Zitao was never angry at the eldest for more than five seconds, or any of the members for that matter, and would always accept his deep apologies with a reciprocated hug.

Minseok can feel his blood pressure steadily rise after the words, "Mandarin lessons" are mentioned, and he wants nothing more than to just rip his hair out from deep within his scalp because he can't take this anymore.

Jongdae's curled on his side beside Minseok, his knees all the way up to his chest as he kneads wiry fingers into the latter's hair. Minseok heaves a throaty sigh, leaning into Jongdae's touch and tucks the younger's head beneath his chin.

"Why do you do this to yourself hyung?" Jongdae's question barely comes out in a whisper, and Minseok freezes over him, stuck at finding the right words to say to the latter as Jongdae smiles with teeth, the corners of his lips almost reaching to his ears.

"I, I don't know," Minseok admits, the crinkles at the edge of his eyes becoming more apparent as he shuts his eyes close, because he cannot even face Jongdae as he gives a pathetic response, "I just don't like tackling my weakness, that's all."

"But why?" Jongdae prods on and grins again, because feels a slight breeze over his hair when Minseok grunts a little too loud this time, probably growing more frustrated at the former's never ending questions and audible thoughts that the eldest just doesn't want to hear presently.

"I just gave you an answer." Minseok starts to pull away until Jongdae has his fingers hooked around his wrist, "No you didn't. Not for this one."

Minseok plops his head on the pillow again, biting his lips as he tries to form another answer at the top of his head. Nothing comes to mind so he just rambles on and on, uncaring at this point whether he's making any sense or not.

"Because you're so perfect with your Mandarin and singing and I'm just, Xiumin, the fat baozi who's good for nothing. I'm not as good of a singer as you are, my moves aren't as smooth and precise as Yixing's, I'm not tall and lean like Yifan, I'm not a pretty face like Luhan, I can't do any awesome martial arts moves like Zitao, and my Mandarin is shit. I'm nothing."

They both fall silent.

"If you really think you're good for nothing," Jongdae starts, and Minseok is quite shocked because he doesn't think the latter would actually agree that his insecurities aren't falsities at all, "then why don't you try to better yourself in the meantime? You sell yourself way too short and give up too easily hyung, and I hate it."

Minseok falls silent as Jongdae places much emphasis on the negative word. The eldest knows it's pointless to compare himself with the other members, and he knows it's wrong because they're one, there's supposed to be no comparisons, no competitions, but it's not like he can help it. It's just his nature.

Jongdae cranes his neck forward, pressing his lips against Minseok's soft ones for a couple seconds and draws back slowly, watching the latter's half lidded eyes blink slowly in perplexity and he laughs, knowing well that the other silently wished the kiss would have lasted just a few seconds longer.

"You can do it, hyung. So as long as I'm here, you won't give up or see yourself as nothing. Even though you'll get frustrated sometimes, I'll always send you a little reminder that you mean everything to me, and that I want you to live up to your abilities and perfect them more."

Minseok's vision turns cloudy with formed saltwater trickles as they both kiss more, and more, and more as the night wears on.

I was in the middle of writing my xiuchen fic when I saw this little gem of a plot and I couldn't resist okay like xiuchen comforting each other is the best thing ever /sobs. I made a few adjustments to the drabble because there were too many mistakes that couldn't go unnoticed by me.
