I actually did envision John dying slowly of thirst... and reading this makes my heart break. But I love that you wrote that John was confident Rodney would rescue him, and that he knew he was loved. I think he would go on waiting in the gateroom until his last breath, still positive that someone would come.
This is painful to read but John's fear and loneliness ring very true. He doesn't want to give up; doesn't want to be alone, but we know how it's going to end. Sad, but beautiful.
Thank you very much. That means a lot. I usually stay away from writing sad things because I am such a happy ending addict. And thankfully this episode, whatever the means it took to get there, gave me just that.
