Ridiculous

I can't believe that "acting poor" has become a hobby for so many upper middle class people. "Poverty" is not a lifestyle; it is a fact of life. Many Americans move in an out of poverty throughout their lives, with most people remaining below the poverty line for a year or two at a time. have you ever seen the magazine called real simple? it supposedly espouses simplifying one's life, but apparently that is only possible if you buy the zillions of expensive products to get there.

oy. anyway. glad that you will be here soon. :)

Ugh, no, I hadn't. That's the same thing that bothers me about most websites that tell you how to "go green." If you can't afford to install solar PV panels on your roof (for about $20,000 for a small set) or to purchase a hybrid (for another $20,000 or so), you're going to a special sort of global warming hell. Personally, I try to live by the mantra "want less, spend less, waste less" and the idea of only eating things that will eventually spoil, like fruits and veggies and whatnot. Granted, it's hard on a college student budget, but apples, bananas, and potatoes are never that expensive.

I'm glad, too! Are you still willing to help me settle in? I'm going to be on campus for two and a half weeks before classes start, so I hope to have plenty of time to explore the area and familiarize myself with the campus. And, if you're willing/able, I'd love to have an unpacking buddy. Packing is one sort of nightmare, but at least I'll have help at home. Unpacking...that could be worse.

Note to self: invest in 3M products to hang things on

Hi! Sure, you can add me. Be warned that I don't update that often, though.

Thanks about the post. I was infuriated when I heard about the book.
