[ 10:00am - East Wing ]
It's so quiet this morning.
I was hoping to catch Gwen for a chat but I haven't seen him. Poor darling, he's probably been sleeping in his office again. He always does this every time something serious happens. I don't think he slept for weeks after...after...RuttenbergI'll try to coax him out for lunch

She needed to remain unfettered.
Today, however, Cheri-sama looks a bit less lustrous.
News of the Captain and the war, probably. And Dan Hiri-sama's departure.
The thought makes the young corporal start and he steps away from the wall and moves to intercept the former monarch in the corridor. "Excuse me, Cheri-sama."
He stops right in front of her and wonders if he sounds as flustered as he feels. The soldier fumbles with the satchel on his belt for a moment and then finally pulls out the letter after what seems like an eternity. He bows deeply and holds out the pristine envelop, feeling ridiculously pleased ( ... )

"Oh, no, no inconvenience at all," she says lightly, waving away his apology. "Don't worry about that. I understand perfectly how busy you all are." ^_~
She takes the letter from him and quickly turns it over. The name Hahaue is scrawled on the front in Conrad's small handwriting. Her smile falters a bit -- just seeing the name written in his hand makes her swallow hard. For a moment, she just stares at it.
How...unexpected.
Cheri looks up from the letter and smiles genuinely at the young man. "How good of you to keep this for him for so long!"
The soldier straightens quickly, still blushing. Before he can say another word, Cheri leans close and kisses his cheek. "Thank you, darling! You've just made my day." ♥

"C--Cheri-sama is too kind."
Is it possible to die from blushing? If so, then he was a goner.
The young corporal bowed deeply to excuse himself., He had discharged his duty and made more than enough of a fool of himself for today. "E--excuse me, Cheri-sama, but I have to attend to my duties."
The man turns to hurry off. He hates to seem rude, but he's wasted more than enough of her time.

Hmmmmph. Yet another one escaped! What was it about her that made men run away from her? Really, all she had wanted was a little company. It was boring and lonely with everyone gone. Really, what was love's huntress supposed to do when everyone went off to war?
...such a big palace, filled with so many people. And yet it felt lonelier than ever.
Cheri sighs again, looks at the letter she holds one more time, and then sets off to find a quiet place to read.
