I'm still at - er, not DEEWR, but close. *is mindful that this is a public post* On my fifth extension, now an acting 6 (lowest grade, of course, although I was mid-grade as a 5). I've just about hit the magic one year mark, and they're wrestling with how to make me permanent, but there's an old order of merit still in existence that can be used to bring me in if necessary.
I'll try this again - I'm on the laptop and I keep hitting the wrong keys.
FaHCSIA is wonderful and my team is a really great bunch of people. My manager was very helpful and encouraging (before she got tapped for a special project). I can't believe that I've been in the job for 6 months already.
For most of the time I was doing secretariat stuff but I also took care of some of the governance stuff. I got the opportunity to show my capabilities by creating systems and procedures to make things easier and more efficient.
Recently, I have started doing data requests; extracting data for Centrelink customers and such like. I'll be training soon to do more complex data extraction and maybe start learning to analyse it as well. The job has both its interesting bits and its boring bits but mostly it's a promotion from the ATO and it's very good for my confidence.
I was actually headhunted for this job. I was quite blown away by that.

How's FaCSIA? What kind of work are you doing?

Being head-hunted feels really, really nice, doesn't it? How did they find you?
